Oh how things sometimes go. Last Saturday, Greg and I were gearing up for a long day of softball tournaments. We were playing on a coed team for Riverfest and were looking forward to a fun filled day. Then it is all cut short. A girl from the other team hits a rocket to right field. Our right fielder fields a great ball and goes to throw out a guy at 2nd. Greg is covering second the ball tips off the top of his mitt and strikes him in the shin. We just think it's going to be a sore spot until.........he can't get up and walk it. He is helped off the field still telling us that it is going to be fine he just needs to walk on it a little. We bat a couple of times and he is still in a lot of pain and can't put any weight on it. He tells me in the dugout, I think it's broke. So I ask him if he wants to go to the ER. Him being the person he is says no that we need to finish the game. So I go back to the field as catcher and a guy gets up and tips the underneath side of the ball straight off the bat onto my forehead. I kind of had an out of body experience and said to myself. Man that must have hurt whoever it hit. Then I realize it's me and I grab my forehead. The ump says........Is there blood and if any of you know me you will find my response very funny....With all seriousness I say.......I SURE hope not and slowly move my hand. Sure enough.....NO BLOOD....THANK GOD. But I have a killer headache and am very dizzy. My team is now gathered around me and the ones that know me are saying......Toni, you can cry. I said OH it's not that bad. Trying to play it off. So I try to stand.....that's a no go and a very good friend of mine says SIT DOWN....so I kind of do.....to which she replies....ALL THE WAY DOWN on your butt.....So I do and we joke a little and I tell everyone that I am fine and we can play. Our pitcher pitches a few and I start coughing and gagging. The ump comes back and stands right in front of me.......Are you feeling sick? I said......um a little to which I started crying. He told me get off the field and go to the ER. I told him I was fine and they still tried to convince me to leave. Once again if you know me you know that I stayed in the game. We get beat and are moving to the other field to which Greg can't walk still and a girl from another team tells us the golf cart is coming to get us. Greg doesn't want to go and he is telling everyone he is fine. A good friend of ours says. "We will be fine. You guys go to the ER." So we get a ride to the truck and we head that way.
So now we are in the truck. I am driving.....with a concussion mind you.....and talking on the phone trying to find out from my sister where the nearest minor ER is. She is directing us there. Then says......"do you want us to meet you there." to which I cry a little and say....if you want to. (because I know that she has a babyshower to go to for our cousin). I get off the phone with her and am feeling a little funny when the phone rings......HELLO.......Mom says....how's softball going to which I reply....fine until Greg broke his leg and I got a concussion. Then the concern in mom's voice comes in and she says......Where are you....I say driving to the ER.....she said....WHO is driving.....I said I AM.....To which mom says call me when you get there and hangs up. (This is funny to me because if you are familiar with me you know that at any moment I might pass out and never know it was coming, however since I have a standard Greg wasn't a choice to drive and our team was supposed to be playing another game, so there was no other choice).
We get to the ER....sure enough Greg's leg is broke and he is NOT happy about it and I have a concussion. The end up giving both of us lortab for the pain thus making neither of us be able to drive. My sister gets the honor of doing so and I find out that mom and dad are on their way to the ER as well. So my sister takes us to her house where we wait for mom and dad and they come and bring us back to my house.
Then Greg has a follow up on Monday and they do another xray. The Dr thinks it could just be a bone bruise and we go back for an MRI. Wednesday we go back to have the MRI read and it is confirmed Greg tibia is broken and it's in a Y shape. The protacal for that is full leg cast. However, the Dr compromises with a full leg splint. Greg is still in a lot of pain and has to wear the splint for 3 weeks.
So needless to say it has been an exciting week. School is done and I am off for the summer and Greg and I get to spend sometime together since he won't be working. Keep us in your prayers.
Oh and I have the best family in the world. My sister and BIL come to the ER, mom and dad come to my sisters then back here to the house, My SIL offers to come get us if she needs to (it's an hour drive for her to come get us), my uncle called on Monday to check on us, Drew texts to make sure we are okay and then says some things to make me cry, and my brother gives us a hard time about being whimps and old (which means he cares).
Thank you all for your concern, it really shows that we are loved. Mari, sorry that I was the cause for Mom and Dad and Neta and Don not being able to make your babyshower.

OH my
Saturday was a super busy day. Up at 8 at the track by 8:40 and then spent the day writing down numbers until 6:15. It was a little chilly out so I didn't even notice that I was getting red. We leave the meet (in which my nephew placed 4th in shot, 1st in discus, and ran two really great races of 400) and head to a friends house for fun times. It was supposed to be our bunco night but we didn't have enough people so we decided that why should the ones that commit have to not have fun. So we ate, drank, chatted and then played some Wii. It was a lot of fun.
Little did we know that the next morning we would find that there had been a tornado touch down just a few miles away from where we were playing Wii. Anyway, the rains started sometime Sunday morning early after we got home. It rained and rained and rained. Then rained some more. The sirens even went off once here in town. When they did Greg and I both jumped up and ran outside. I know, not to smart but we wanted to see what was going on. It rained and rained and rained some more.
This morning I get up and I have a voicemail telling me that we are not having school due to flooding in our town. I had no idea. So I thought Greg and I were going to get to have a lazy day together but that didn't happen. He has to go to work because people are calling in freaking out about the water in their basements so I haven't seen him since he stopped by on his way to Wichita. I hope the waters have come down. Last I had heard they evacuated an apartment complex on the east side of our town. Hopefully the waters will come down and the people will get to go back to their homes. Today it might still rain but it's supposed to be nice tomorrow then rain again on Wednesday and Thursday.

Greg and his son
Greg has been very blessed to have his son move back to Kansas. This picture was from the first day that he got to come over and hang out. Such an exciting day. Last night he got the spend the first night with his dad in a really long time. We watched basketball til late, slept, got up and went to church, did a little shopping, and then came back to the house and played Wii. I just smile looking at Greg with his son and how much love he has for him. The bond between a father and son is something to marvel at.
Great Great Friends
Last week we were without power. When we finally left the house it was 53 in here and freezing. We put a whole bunch of blankets and towels in Karma's kennel and then two heavy blankets over the top. She would have been plenty warm and when we got back she didn't even seem to have noticed that it was freezing in here. Sooney was all burrowed down in the covers on the bed and seemed perfectly content to be there. So we left and went to our friend's house. I guess when you live on the north side of town you get power back before the poor people on the south side :) We had pizza and watch basketball. When our other friend let us know that power was back we came back and showered then took Karma back to our friends to have her play with their dog Jayhawk. It was very funny to watch. They played and played and ran. When we finally came back here to watch the other game on our TV I was on the computer and get a message from Mandy and she says.....Aaron is upset that Greg isn't here. I'm not fun to watch games with. (Plus they are the ones that we spent a lot of time with in Vegas and have some great memories because of it)
It is great to know that you have friends that want you to hang around and just do nothing and they are willing to let you come over and warm up instead of freezing to death. Friends have been a great plus in my life lately. Been feeling a little blue and not worthy of anything and they have been there for me. I guess it is times like these that you find out who your real friends are and who the acquaintances are that you keep that are truly friends. So thank you all for noticing and caring that something wasn't quite right with me and taking the time to ask instead of just ignoring it. It's nice to feel loved.

Because Cinda keeps begging
The top picture is of my ring for all of you that like to look at that kind of thing. The picture to the left was taken by our great friend Mandy after we got engaged. We were up in the Eiffel tower with our back towards the Ballagio. It was the most beautiful shot of the whole place. I love Vegas and would like to go there all the time.

WE GOT ENGAGED!
Just got back from Vegas and I am officially engaged. On the first night out there Greg and I went up in the Eiffel Tower and he purposed to me. He got down on one knee and asked me to make him the happiest person for the rest of his life. I was shocked and said YES. So we are planning to get married on May 8, 2010. We are playing off of Mom and Dad's 50th date and May was the first 8th that fell on a Saturday. So save that date and come celebrate our happiness with us.

Got to play Dr.
I guess issues with fingers must be running in our family. Greg sliced open his finger the other day and the minute that I saw blood on the walls and floor I KNEW something wasn't right. So I check on him at the kitchen sink and there is blood everywhere. I mean everywhere and it is getting worse. It was POURING out of his finger. So I hop to....I don't even remember what all I did but he said he was proud that I was his girlfriend.....Keep in mind when I cut my own finger I thought I needed to lay down and pass out. So I try to convince him that we need to go to the ER and have his finger sewn back together. BUT (if you have a man in your life you know what comes next) he doesn't want to go. "It will be okay" is what he says, as he pulls this stringy thing out of his cut and I get the scissors and cut it off. I don't know what it was and I don't think I want to. So I get it all cleaned up and we head to the store to get more stuff to keep it together. Now is when I start feeling light headed and a little sick at my stomache. So I say to him "I think we need to get out of this store."
All said and done I have butterflied his finger back together twice and I was okay both times. The smell of blood though is horrible and it took a long time to get the smell out of my head. Today the slice opened up again and I begged him to go to the Dr. Again you know what I got...."NO it will heal on it's own." So there I was butterflying it back together again. So I'll keep Doctoring it as long as I can and hope to God that it heals like it should.

So Excited about Vegas
Well it's almost Spring Break and if you teach you know the importance of this week :) Greg and I are going to Vegas over Spring Break this year. I am so excited. We are meeting two other couples out there and are just going to enjoy being away from real life for a while. We have been saving for like 8 months. We are staying at Planet Hollywood with a view of the Bellagio fountains (my favorite part of Vegas). I could spend hours and hours just sitting at the Bellagio watching the fountains and laughing at the people. (There are some very funny people in Vegas)
I just realized the other day that we will be there for St. Patty's day so that would be a very fun and exciting time. I'm praying for great weather and a fun time had by all. Look for the many many pictures that I will take and post when I get back.

I'm too dumb
I guess I am too dumb to figure out how to add my family and friends to this silly blog. I see that Mari and Annetta have it on theirs. However, Cinda doesn't even have a button for me to click to be a follower of her block and my sister doesn't have me listed as a family member on the Krout Reunion page......:) SOMEONE HELP
Test is almost over
School time is very stressful when it comes to state tests. So for the last two weeks I have been testing kids one on one. I think that makes me more tired then anything else. I have been grumpy and tired. It really is hard to explain. However all the kids are done testing and they did for the most part well. Better than I have ever had a group do.
I have taken up reading a series of books since testing started. When the series first came out I was not interested in the least. Then the kids at school started talking about it and I like to know what they are talking about so I borrowed the book from a girl at school. Twilight is a great book and I have a hard time putting it down. I'm almost through with book one and ready to move on to book two. Paige seems to really enjoy the series and has read it going on the third time now. She was telling me all about it. Now I guess I will have to go see the movie.

Beginning of 2009
Since there is now a Krout blog and my sister made a blog then I thought maybe I would make a blog. Greg and I got a dog right before Christmas. Her name is Karma and she is a lab mix (or so they say). We rescued her from the Humane Society. So now I have a cat and a dog......Sooney came first and is 4 almost. I got her right after I bought my house. She doesn't know what to think about Karma but she is trying to play a little more. We will see how it all works. I can't say I have much exciting going on. I spend a lot of time with Greg, going to Trevor, Paige and Jenna's stuff and following them around. I am getting ready to go to Vegas over Spring break for a whole week. I am so excited. It will be Greg and I's first vacation and I am so looking forward to it. We are meeting some friends out there and are just going to enjoy the time away from real life.
